Samba 7-2 NAFC II
Sunday night at Icahn Stadium the Samba Boys lit up their noisy neighbors to push themselves back into the top half of the table.
Deandre Gordon got Samba on the board in the tenth minute, as the superstar forward tucked home a rebound from a Rijon Harrison shot. Next, Harrison was at it as he slapped a shot past the NAFC keeper from 35 yards, tee’d up by captain Housainou Ogoo. To complete the half Harrison found fellow 2002 Tijani Fatah with a beautiful through ball as Fatah easily outpaced his man and tucked home a tidy finish to put the KidSuper team up 3 nil at intermission.
Fatah and Harrison, in their first game together, picked up right where they left off after halftime with Fatah breaking through down the right and finding his Jamaican partner for an easy finish. Samba then disappointingly conceded as attention levels waned due to the slow pace of the match, but it wasn’t to be for long— after coming on for Harrison, Amara Sesay banged home a brace in short succession as he, Gordon, and Fatah combined to score the exact same goal twice in a matter of minutes. Fatah added a seventh for Samba as he really began to leave his mark on the game in the second half, the pass coming from one of the club’s veteran midfield technicians, Jeffry Garay. NAFC managed to add a second goal late on as Samba struggled to maintain focus levels in the easy encounter.
