Doxa 1-0 Samba

Last night in New Rochelle the Samba Boys came up short in a tough battle with table topping Doxa.

A very talented Doxa team went ahead in the 20th minute after defensive miscommunication from the visiting Samba.

A tough battle continued throughout the game and Doxa almost went ahead 2 nil after youngster Sidy Diallo brought a player down inside the box. Samba were kept alive by commanding goalkeeper Etan Mabourakh who saved the penalty. Samba came very close to equalizing when star forward Deandre Gordon floated a ball off the crossbar after being played in alone by young Jamaican strike partner Rijon Harrison. The rebound fell kindly into the arms of Doxa keeper Joseph Blasetti before either Gordon or talismanic substitute Ebrima Jallow were able to tuck it home, and ultimately Samba were left to lick their wounds after an intense 90 minutes against strong opposition.
