Samba 3-2 Pancyprians

Sunday night at Icahn Stadium the undermanned Samba Boys turned in a gritty performance for the ages, storming back from a 2 goal deficit to knock off their historic opponents.

A tight affair tilted in Pancyprians favor early as they capitalized upon lax defending from a young Samba defensive unit and took the lead. Samba had a chance to equalize after star forward Deandre Gordon drew a foul in the Pancyprians’ box, but youngster Rijon Harrison was denied from the spot. A highly controversial second goal for the Cypriots put them firmly in the driver’s seat later in the half before Harrison brought Samba back into the fixture with a fantastic finish just before intermission.

Shortly after the restart Camary Jonas found Gordon who coolly slotted home the equalizer. It was Harrison who then left onlookers shocked with a wonder golaso into the upper 90 from around 35 yards out in the 61st minute. A Cheikh Diouf red card left Samba in the lurch for the last 20 minutes of the game, but the determined group held firm to preserve their hard fought victory over the favored Pancyprians.
