Samba 1-4 Clifton

Samba were horrific from top to bottom last night in an ugly showing for the entire organization up in Yonkers as outsized egos flared and embarrassing scenes of infighting and discontent gave light to the first team’s true dysfunctionality and lack of cohesion.

One week after securing three massive points away to Greek Americans, the KidSuper Samba first team’s weak underbelly reared its ugly head in a home game versus fellow relegation battlers Clifton Elite FC up in Yonkers. Samba allowed Clifton to score in the first few minutes of each half and the team never seemed to turn up for the game mentally. Domination of play and quantity of chances created meant nothing for Samba as they twice threw the game away after kickoffs.

A second half red card for Samba vice captain Vieux Mane and lack of professionalism and effort allowed Clifton to go up three and four nil late on in the second half before Samba clawed one back as Elhadj Diallo was brought down by the Clifton keeper in the penalty box and Jhonny Theze slotted home his first goal for the club. Samba also controversially had a goal apparently cleared from inside the Clifton net in a decision that required goal line technology.

18 year old Douglas Carrasco made his competitive debut for the Samba first team.
