Lansdowne 4-2 Samba
Last night in Yonkers a young Samba team was thoroughly outclassed by Lansdowne’s savvy veterans as preseason player tests continue.
Reserve team head coach Desmond Andrews took the helm along with player-coach Ornette Sanchez, as the club’s first team head coach Caetano Sanchez had to miss the game. Lansdowne throttled their guests right from the start as many of the Samba players struggled to deal with the level of play. The Bhoys got off the board first before Elhadj Diallo equalized from a Jhonny Theze through ball. Poor play in the back from Samba throughout the first half gave Lansdowne the chance to go up 2-1 before the break.
Wholesale changes were made at halftime as the entire back four, one midfielder, and one of the front three were substituted out.
A controversial penalty resulted in Lansdowne going up 3-1 in the second half and they were dominant as they quickly increased the lead to 4-1. Deandre Gordon and Rijon Harrison combined down the left hand side allowing Gordon to slot the ball home as Samba brought the game back to 4-2, and the team played much better from there on out.
