Samba 2-2 Zum

The Samba Boys came out with a tense 2-2 draw with Manhattan rivals Zum Schneider on Sunday at Icahn Stadium, despite 10 of 11 starters fasting for Ramadan.

Zum began the game with urgency and took the lead in the 9th minute, but KidSuper began to assert itself more as the half went on and were poor not to score.

Young Samba netminder Ronaldo Fatolou saved yet another penalty in the 61st minute, and KidSuper himself Colm Dillane scored in the 78th to bring the match even. The final 10 minutes of the affair would prove to be chaos. A Zum player was sent off for a straight red in the 81st minute for a stomp on Samba fullback Douglas Carrasco. Carrasco was carried off the field injured and his replacement Moussa Sinera was not able to sub in until the 86th minute, by which time Zum had retaken the lead in the 85th. Miguel Bustos saved the day with an 89th minute equalizer to complete a dramatic day.
