Samba 0-2 Lansdowne

An inexperienced Samba team almost overcame the odds last night in Yonkers, but ultimately succumbed to defeat against their Irish counterparts.

Samba looked a far cry from the star-studded teams of yesteryear, but worked hard as a unit and kept things tight in the first half, and had chances to actually take the lead but lacked the clinical quality required in front of goal.

While hopes of an upset were absolutely on the cards going into the second period, the Samba Boys boys shot themselves in the foot by allowing an easy Lansdowne goal two minutes into the half and then another only a few minutes after that. The entry of Deandre Gordon brightened the Samba attack but there was still a lack of incisive quality to Samba’s actions in the final third as the spring season opener slipped out of reach.
