NYGA 2-0 Samba

The Samba Boys put together their first good performance in weeks and did everything but score last night in a high octane National Cup encounter with New York Greek Americans out at Locust Point.

The first half was an up and down affair in which both teams probably should have tallied. The KidSuper forwards struggled with decision making and execution in the final third, but both teams put forth a high level of play throughout the field.

In the 70th minute a defensive error by Samba allowed the Greeks to get the all important go ahead goal, something to have been expected after all the spurned chances by Samba on the offensive end. As the boys pushed forward and substitutions were made, Samba came undone on the defensive end again and the Greek Americans were able to double their lead via the penalty spot in the 81st. KidSuper forward Elhadj Diallo had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offsides in the 83rd minute, which would have seen the score draw to 2-1 and have made for a more interesting last ten minutes.
