Dembo Soussoko to SC Mirandela

Congratulations to 20 year old Gambian defender Dembo Soussoko🇬🇲, who has officially joined Portuguese club SC Mirandela🇵🇹 in the Campeonato de Portugal.

Dembo (2004) joined KidSuper Samba as a 15 year old in 2019 after arriving in New York from The Gambia a year prior, and went on to play for every team and coach within our organization. Until now, we are his first and only club in football. Dembo began with our John F Kennedy HS team, reaching the city quarterfinals and winning the Bronx A division twice, captained the KidSuper Samba u19s, helped lead Samba II to a 2022 CSL D3 group title and promotion, as well as the 2023 Flamhaft Cup final, and broke into the Samba first team in the EPSL during the 2022-23 and 23-24 seasons.

He made his first team debut in the 3-2 loss to Lansdowne Yonkers in October 2022, at 18 years of age.

Soussoko made 31 appearances and scored 4 goals for JFK high school in the PSAL, 22 appearances with 4 goals and 4 assists for Samba II in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League and Flamhaft Cup, and 8 appearances for the Samba first team in the EPSL.

Dembo represents a massive success in the work that our club does developing both players and people in the difficult urban environment of the Bronx.
